Meet Jana Crosby
LMFT#122477
Hi, I’m Jana Crosby. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist treating motivated young adults in California through individual therapy services. I provide in person sessions in San Diego as well as telehealth sessions throughout California. My goal is to help you decrease shame regarding your emotional experience and feel less fear around uncertainty around change. I will be an active ally in uncovering and working through the root of these challenges as well as empowering you to make impactful changes in your life.
Helping People Recharges Me
Being a Therapist is an honor. I love helping people become healthier and more empowered and witnessing them achieve more fulfilling lives. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is seeing a person walk away lighter, more free, and excited about their life.
I am committed to empowering you to make big changes.
I have a genuine belief in the healing capacity of others and meeting my clients with empathy, empowerment, and direction towards their chosen goals. I bring warmth and understanding to sessions.
I have a natural ability to:
- Help people identify what they are feeling.
- Uncover what’s under the surface and address it.
- Collaborate with people to define values and help them reach their goals.
- Build self-compassion and tolerance to feel emotions without experiencing overwhelm.
- Explain symptoms and treatment in an easy-to-understand way backed by science.
What makes me different: I listen carefully and read between the lines uncovering what might really be going on underneath. People who know me often give feedback around my ability to attune with their experience and sense their needs in the moment.

As a Therapist, I Embrace the Following Philosophies
- I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated

- I believe that therapy works when both of us are committed to your healing

- I believe that therapy should address the person as a whole – their mind, body, and spirit

- I believe that even if we feel like we’ve lost hope, it’s possible to show up, commit to ourselves, and do what it takes to start feeling better

I believe that leaning into versus away from anxiety including exposure to fears in a safe and supportive setting can effectively replace crippling anxiety with a sense of calm or confidence.
My Professional Background
I have been working in the mental health field for ten years with a diverse range of ages, backgrounds, and needs. I have been treating clients for psychotherapy as a Marriage and Family Therapist over the last six years. During this time, I was able to receive advanced training and supervision in my specialty areas. I was able to find my true passion working with motivated young adults who are experiencing a range of anxiety-based symptoms in achieving deep change, learning to feel confident, hopeful, and fulfilled. I am actively participating in continuing education and pursuing an advanced certification in the treatment of eating disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder.
It is important to me to provide you with a non judgmental space where you can be yourself and am always open to any feedback and questions you may have throughout the therapy process.
I always welcome dialogue about our experience together in the therapy space. There isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
It has been a joy to witness my client’s growth towards being comfortable with and accepting of the ups and downs that come with living life fully.
I am trained in psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy, exposure and response prevention, and acceptance and commitment therapy. This means that I focus on relational needs, developing inner resources and body mind integration, and uncovering past experiences and patterns as they influence your functioning today. My approach will support you in making peace with the full spectrum of human emotion to make room for value driven choices and taking positive chosen action in life. Together we will develop a plan to address fears and explore alternative behaviors to decrease the hold symptoms may have in your life. I work together with you to support your goals.
A Little More About Me as a Person:
In my personal time I am renewed by quality time with loved ones, being in nature, practicing yoga, swimming, soul collaging, and taking short road trips. I enjoy journaling, listening to audio books, and am a life-long learner.
My life experiences and background have shaped the way I see my clinical work and have given me a greater depth of understanding to add to my education and work experience. I continue to engage in my own self growth so that I can show up fully and authentically in session with you and guide you further on the human journey towards healing and fulfillment.
